Telecommuting Mom
Sutherland@Home is now hiring for three different positions that include customer service reps, sales and technical support. This company is a virtual call center like some of those I have listed previously. The great thing about this company is that they hire you as an employee instead of an independent contractor like most work-from-home companies. This means they take taxes out for you, etc. Here is some info from their website.
Employment Status
Many companies who offer Work from Home employment require that you become a sub-contractor or otherwise known as a “1099 employee”. While we feel that this is certainly a worthwhile approach for some people, it doesn’t fit in with Sutherland’s corporate culture of mentoring and developing those associates that work hard to achieve success and therefore, all Sutherland @ Home associates are direct hire employees that are every bit as much a part of our corporate family as those who sit in Sutherland facilities. You will receive the same training, the same development tools, the same mentoring opportunities and the same opportunities for advancement. In short, as a Sutherland @ Home Associate, you are part of our global family and will be treated as such.
Hours
At this time, Sutherland Home Associate positions are entirely part-time positions, allowing associates to work between 19 (minimum) and 29 (maximum) hours a week. In the future, Sutherland Home Associate may offer full-time positions, so if you are interested in a full-time career with Sutherland, check back on the Sutherland @ Home Portal frequently. During your career as a Home Associate, you may be considered for management positions that are full time positions while still working from the same home environment you have enjoyed as a part time employee. Background and Credit Checks
Sutherland@Home candidates are required to pass a background check. Some of our clients may also require a credit check for employees who will be working on their programs.
Pay
Sutherland @ Home Associates get paid a better than average hourly wage. This ranges from $10 - $15/hr, depending on the duties you will be performing, your experience in that field and your productivity. There are two methods of payment that Sutherland@Home offers their employees. For further details, please refer to the FAQs page.
Scheduling
Sutherland Home Associates enjoy the ability to have direct control over their work schedule. Associates are stack-ranked in their performance against quality parameters and are allowed to create their own schedules from available 2-hr blocks of time based on their ranking. For example, the top performing agents are allowed access to the schedule containing all of the available hours for the first 48hrs after a schedule period is released, so Associate X may look at the available hours and create the following schedule:
- Sunday: Off
- Monday: 7:00 AM - 9:00 AM and 12:00 noon - 3:00 PM
- Tuesday: 1:30 PM - 3:30 PM
- Wednesday: 6:30pm - 10:00 PM
- Thursday: Off
- Friday: Off
- Saturday: 9:00 AM - 1:00 PM
As a Sutherland Home Associate, you will need to be able to provide a dedicated work area that is dedicated to the purposes of performing your duties as a Sutherland Home Associate. This dedicated space needs to be free of distractions so that you may stay focused on providing the very best support for our client customers possible.
Hardware Requirements
You will need a PC that meets the following minimum requirements:
- 32 Bit Windows XP or 32 Bit Windows Vista (Home Premium or Business)
- 1 GHz or higher Intel Pentium 4 or AMD 64 processor
- 1 GB of System Ram for Windows XP or 1.5 GB for Vista
- 20 GB of available hard drive space
- DVD drive
- Sound Card
