Cruise Line Careers: What Skill Sets are Required?
To be able to work from home as a Cruise Line Reservation agent, there are a few requirements and skill sets that one should have to be considered.
- Quiet, home office workspace. You are going to be answering the phone and talking to customers. There can be no noise, no distractions, no kids in the background, no animals barking…basically, nothing but silence. If you don’t have a dedicated space in your home, you need to make certain that you can create one before applying for the job.
- Customer service skills. Since you are applying for a job that is going to have you communicating with customers and talking about the company, it’s imperative that you have extremely strong customer service skills. You need to be able to communicate well, listen to what they are asking and needing, and give factual responses to their questions.
- Self-motivated. If you’ve never worked from home before, it can be a big change that many people aren’t quite ready for. Remember that when you are working from home, you aren’t communicating with anyone else…because it’s just you. You have to motivate yourself to start your day and end your day on time. There isn’t anyone that is going to check in on you or stop by your desk to see how you are doing. If you question whether working at home is right for you, do your research ahead of time and talk to some people that do currently work at home now to get their thoughts and feelings about it. Some people love it, while others don’t care for it as much because they feel isolated from the rest of their company.
